Former BRS MLA Shakeel Arrested: Former Bodhan MLA Shakeel has been arrested by the police. He left the country with his son after the Praja Bhavan road accident. He was recently arrested at the Shamshabad airport. When he came to attend his mother’s funeral, the alert police took him into custody. He is likely to be questioned after the funeral.
The police have finally taken former BRS MLA Shakeel into custody. He was arrested at the Shamshabad International Airport today. Arrest warrants are pending against Shakeel in several cases. One of these is the road accident case that took place near Praja Bhavan in 2023. The police have registered a case against Shakeel for allegedly avoiding his son Rahel, who was responsible for the accident. After this incident, the police have confirmed that Shakeel helped Rahel escape to Dubai. Shakeel has been included as A3 accused in this case.
Hyderabad police had earlier announced that former MLA Shakeel was absconding in this case. Shakeel has been living in Dubai for the past year and a half. Recently, Shakeel reached Shamshabad airport this morning to attend the funeral of his mother who passed away. The police were alerted after receiving information about his arrival. He was arrested upon reaching Shamshabad. However, it seems that the police have permitted Shakeel to attend his mother’s funeral on humanitarian grounds. It is reported that the police are currently taking him to Bodhan.
On December 23, 2023, in the early morning hours, Shakeel Kumar Rahel was driving a car at high speed and crashed into the barricades in front of Praja Bhavan. At the time of the accident, there were two young men and three young women in the car. The barricades were destroyed in the incident, and the front of the car was also severely damaged. Rahel fled from the spot after the accident. The Panjagutta police have registered a case in this incident. Based on the CCTV footage, Rahel was identified as driving the car.
Police suspected that Shakeel tried to save Rahel immediately after the accident. CI Durga Rao of Panjagutta police station was suspended for his negligence in this case. The police have included Shakeel as an A3 accused of helping Rahel escape to Dubai. Lookout notices have also been issued against Rahel. Recently, Shakeel was detained when he reached Shamshabad airport to attend his mother’s funeral. There is a chance to inquire about Rahel after the investigation.
