Free Access to ChatGPT’s Deep Research Feature: OpenAI may soon launch its powerful “Deep Research” feature for free users as well. Currently, this feature is available only to users with Pro, Plus, and Team plans. But if this update comes, then free users will also be able to take advantage of this advanced research tool, although there may be some limitations in it.
Deep Research is an AI tool that can do in-depth research on any topic and prepare a detailed report. It runs on OpenAI’s custom o3 model and collects the necessary information by automatically searching the Internet. It is specially designed for those who do in-depth research in fields like finance, science, policy or engineering.
AI expert Tibor Blaho shared information about a webcast of OpenAI in which the company’s technical staff member Isa Fulford talked about making this feature available to free users. However, no official date has been revealed yet.
Even if this feature comes for free users, there may be some strict rate limits on it. Deep Research uses a lot of GPU power, so OpenAI cannot make it unlimited for every user. It is possible that free users get some limited opportunities every month to use it.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has said that at present the company is engaged in managing its server load. Due to the heavy demand for the recently introduced new image generation feature, there has been more pressure on the server, so it may take some time for the free version of Deep Research to be launched. If this feature is available to free users, then they will not have to waste time in manual research. Deep Research AI will collect data by itself and prepare reports, which will make the work of researchers easier. Now it remains to be seen when OpenAI rolls out this update and how many facilities are provided in it for free users.
