Vijay Mallya, with his ostentatious tastes and poly-gamous lifestyle, surprised many by recently saying he just bought a Rolls-Royce for ₹50,000. Perhaps even more perplexing was the fact that the car was abandoned and a tree was growing through it. Mallya’s method of acquiring vintage cars demonstrates an astute investment mentality and a genuine interest in automobiles of the past.
Instead of chasing new supercars, Mallya has a different process, he is also trying to acquire cars that are rusted, neglected, or were not fully finished, and restore them. What could be old junk cars become valuable collectibles if restored.
Mallya also revealed that he owned a Rolls Royce Silver Ghost supposedly owned by the Nizam of Hyderabad, with a very unique body.
Why Vintage Cars?
Mallya can distinguish:
They appreciate in value – Spectacularly restored vintage cars can sell for millions.
They have historical value – Restoring rare classic cars gives significance to their story.
They often fly under the radar – Many owners ignore the future value of broken down vehicles.

Most people would throw this car away, but Mallya saw opportunity. After painstakingly restoring it, he transformed a rusted car into a stunning car, which he added to his collection of acquired vehicles.
