Hyderabad Fire Accident: A fire broke out at Gulzar House in Hyderabad in the early hours of this morning, killing 17 people, including 8 children. The tragedy was the biggest in the city’s history. The Telangana government has announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakh to the families of the deceased, and Prime Minister Modi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh. It is believed that the accident occurred due to a short circuit.
It is known that a massive fire broke out in Gulzar House near Charminar in Hyderabad in the early hours of this morning. A total of 17 people, including 8 children, died in the incident that took place in the early hours of the morning. This incident has filled the city with grief. It has become the biggest tragedy in the history of Hyderabad. Responding to this accident, the Telangana government has announced immediate assistance to the affected families.
On the orders of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka visited the bodies and the accident site at Osmania Hospital and reviewed the situation. Later, he announced that Rs. 5 lakh will be given to each family of the deceased. He announced that a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh will be given to each family.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy CM said that the authorities have initially determined that the accident occurred due to a short circuit. He expressed his regret that this is a very unfortunate incident. Recalling that similar accidents have happened in the past, he ordered the authorities to take strict measures to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future. He assured the families of the deceased that the government will stand by them. He revealed that a comprehensive investigation will be conducted into this fire accident.
Among the dead in the accident were 8 children and four women. Many people in the building lost consciousness due to suffocation. They were immediately rushed to Osmania, Yashoda (Malakpet) and DRDO Apollo hospitals for treatment. Some died on the spot, while others passed away while undergoing treatment in the hospital. Immediately after the fire, fire brigade personnel, DRF teams, GHMC personnel and police reached the spot and took up rescue operations.
The fire was brought under control with the help of 10 fire engines and those trapped in the building were safely evacuated. The locals faced severe hardships as thick smoke spread in the areas surrounding Gulzar House. The police have already registered a case and are investigating the incident. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his deep sorrow over the tragedy. He announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs. 50 thousand to the injured.
