Hyderabad: Journey made easy on RTC and Metro with THIS one card

Hyderabad: A key step is about to be taken in the public transport system in Hyderabad city. Soon, there will be an opportunity to travel in buses and metro with a single card. Without the need to stand in queues for tickets, without the hassle of ticket retailers, you can easily tap and travel. To this end, the Telangana government is ready to bring a new card named ‘T-MaaS’ (Telangana Mobility as a Service).

Hyderabad: Journey made easy

Passengers will be issued new T-MaaS cards without the hassle of paying money and getting tickets. Currently, TGSRTC is installing new machines to buy tickets in buses. Through these, digital payments can be made. For this, ‘Intelligent Ticket Issuing Machines’ (I-TIMS) are being installed in 2,800 city buses. Smart cards are currently used in the Hyderabad Metro Train. In place of these, Common Mobility Cards can be used through ticket scanners. For this, tap machines are being installed in RTC buses. After that, these cards can be used in both transport organizations.

What’s the update?

HUMTA (Hyderabad Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority) has taken up this program to improve the public transport system of Hyderabad city. The target is to bring about 25 lakh RTC passengers and 5 lakh Metro Rail passengers under a single system. A senior official from HUMTA said that discussions are currently underway with Metro and RTC officials in this regard. It was revealed that the Hyderabad Metro Rail Corporation has agreed to link its green cards with T-MaaS cards.

According to reports, RTC has also agreed to install tap machines in buses. He said that these cards would work like Metro cards. He said that the balance can be topped up through UPI. After this system is available, these cards will be available at Metro stations and RTC counters. Without having to wait in queues, one can recharge through Phone Pay and Google Pay.

However, plans have been made to make these common cards available for a long time. It was thought that a common card should be brought so that travel can be carried out in RTC, MMTS, and Metro services through a single card. At present, it is known that the railway authorities are not ready to introduce this system in MMTS trains. After Corona, the number of people traveling in MMTS trains has decreased. Many are traveling in the metro. Women are choosing free bus services. In this context, it is currently expected to introduce cards in buses and metro.
