Chief Minister Revanth Reddy laid the foundation stone on March 8th, 2024 for the old city metro rail project which runs from MGBS to Falaknuma. Earlier KCR government didn’t focus on the development of the corridor II green line from MGBS to Falaknuma, But after the new government was formed they focused on developing the old city.
Present developments in this project:
This metro is going to pass from Darulshifa – Puranihaveli – Etebarchowk – Alijakotla – Mir Momin Daira – Haribowli – Shalibanda – Shamsheergunj – Aliabad and ends at Falaknuma as planned. The major 4 stations are named after their historic importance, Salarjung Museum, Charminar, Shalibanda, and Falaknuma. Even though these stations are 500 to 600 meters away from the monuments but still this is going to make commuters for an easy and fastest travelling.
For this development government has started to demolish around 11,000 properties across these stations for road widening. As per the planned records, they are going to keep a 100-foot road as per the master plan and a 120-foot road in the station locations. This wider road will help the commuters travel freely and also in a faster way. According to the reports government has allotted around 2000 crores including road widening and also for the shifting any utilities. Presently this work has already started and the road-widening process is going on. Citizens are very happy with this development, even though if they are losing their properties which were there for so many years, this metro rail project is going to bring one of the major developments.
