Hyderabad: Railing Collapse at Charlapalli Railway Terminal

Hyderabad Cherlapalli railway terminal: Part of the railing at the entrance gate of the Cherlapalli railway terminal in Hyderabad collapsed. It happened because of the turbulent weather conditions on Saturday evening. Heavy rains and gusts of wind brought down the structure. But the terminal entrance remained intact, and no one was injured.


Cause of the collapse

The powerful storm also destroyed the railing, while the roofing sheets of the southern main gate were shattered by powerful winds. The sudden collapse of the train has raised questions about the stability of the newly built railway facility.

Response from authorities

Though the mishap did take place, no formal complaint has been filed against the collapse till now. As per Cherlapalli police. However, railway officials need to visit the site and provide proper repairs and installing safety measures to avoid such an accident in the future.

The breakdown reflects the requirement of great structural strength at railway stations, especially in areas subject to extreme weather. Current Developments in Cherlapalli Railway Station

Additionally, with the ongoing developments, the South Central Railway (SCR) is diverting some of its summer special trains via Cherlapalli instead of Secunderabad. The commuters, however, have been complaining about the lack of transport connectivity to the terminal. Officials are now making efforts to introduce more MMTS services for better accessibility.

Though no one was killed in the Cherlapalli railway terminal collapse. The accident has been a reminder that there is a need for enhanced building codes. The authorities will have to go through existing measures to safeguard railways against such collapses and ensure rail passenger safety. Inspections are being carried out to ensure a safer transport infrastructure within the city, with authorities as well as passengers demanding changes.
