Hyderabad Rains with Thunderstorm: Hyderabad and Telangana citizens can get ready for rains and thunderstorms over the next few days, as predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Summer rains might be out of place, but are a result of weather disturbances in the season. The rains would provide relief from heat but can also cause traffic snarls and waterlogging in towns.
Summer season is normally the dry season, but there are certain weather conditions that create rainfall:
Pre-Monsoon Weather Conditions: Pre-monsoon season is normally the season that would have sudden storms and showers, predominantly in the south Indian states.
Colliding Moisture-Rich Winds: Moisture-rich winds from Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal can combine with rising temperatures and form clouds and thunderstorms.
Localized Storm Systems: Such heat accumulation can lead to convective activity, which can cause brief but intense thunderstorms in various places.
The IMD has forecast moderate rain and storms in Hyderabad and some of the districts of Telangana, such as Rangareddy, Medak, and Karimnagar. The winds become 30-40 kmph with lightning and occasional heavy showers.
The highest temperatures will come down by 3-5°C, bringing relief from hot summer.
1. Traffic Congestion & Waterlogging
Hyderabad city road network, mainly low-lying areas, will suffer congestion and lesser movement of traffic. The people who travel should make proper arrangements.
2. Preventive Measures for Residents
Avoid traveling during thunderstorms. Make proper precautions to enable free drainage in order to avoid waterlogging. Stay indoors during lightning and gusty wind.
3. Advantages to Farmers & Groundwater Levels
These monsoon showers enable the preservation of moisture for plants and help replenish groundwater, which is helpful for agriculture purposes.

Whereas thunderstorms and rain are a cause of short-term inconvenience, they are seasonal climatic fluctuations that serve to lower temperatures and benefit agriculture. People should be prepared for unstable weather but also enjoy relief from scorching heat.
