Hyderabad: Woman Poisons Child in Suspected Suicide Attempt

Hyderabad: Woman Poisons Child: Hyderabad saw a horrific murder-suicide bid in Bachupally, with 32-year-old Namburi Krishna Pavani attempting suicide after apparently giving the same toxic substance to her four-year-old daughter, Jeswika. The horrific episode claimed the life of Jeswika, and Pavani is fighting for life in hospital.

Difficulty with Health & Emotional Torment

As per reports, Krishna Pavani was suffering from health problems for years, but her health never improved even once despite ongoing medical treatment. Weary and mentally exhausted, she reportedly made up her mind to commit suicide. On April 18, she added poison to a soft drink, drinking it herself and administering it to her minor daughter, resulting in serious complications.

Delayed Response & Emergency Intervention

Afraid of how her husband would react, Pavani is said to have waited a day before telling him what had happened. When informed of the critical state, Sambasiva Rao first called Bachupally police and had his wife hospitalised in a private hospital at KPHB Colony on an emergency basis.

While this was happening, Pavani too continued to suffer, being in a critical state at the ICU. The condition of Jeswika also worsened, and she was shifted to another hospital on Sunday morning to undergo further treatment. She, however, succumbed to the poisoning.

Police Investigation Underway
The Bachupally police have filed a case and initiated an investigation into the background leading to the incident. The authorities will inquire into the history of the family, mental illness, and potential negligence in tracking early signs of distress.

Addressing Mental Health & Crisis Prevention
This terrible situation is being utilised to further press the extreme necessity of having an awareness of mental health, emotional support, and intervention for an individual who suffers from chronic illness and mental suffering. These terrible circumstances reaffirm the availability of easily accessible mental health information and community outreach services to assist in preventing these types of occurrences in the future.
