India is poised to boost the military strength of its tank warfare with the green signal for a ₹2,000–₹3,000 crore contract for procuring Invar anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs). The Indian army will be supplied with Invar missiles by Bharat Dynamics Ltd (BDL) and integrate them on T-90 main battle tanks, Invar Missile Purchase to boost India’s military strength.
Why Invar Missiles?
Invar missile is a guided tank-fired weapon with high accuracy and efficiency. The Invar missile is a valuable resource for India’s armoured troops because it is highly accurate and useful. The T-90 tanks heavily employed by the Indian Army rely on these missiles for greater firepower on the enemy’s armour.
The procurement bid is being cleared financially to complete the price. The Defence Minister clears orders of up to ₹2,000 crore, while the orders of approximately ₹3,000 crore are cleared by the Finance Minister. But if the deal crosses ₹3,000 crore, it must be cleared by the Cabinet.
Strategic Importance
This acquisition is in line with the Make in India policy of India, which will make India capable of manufacturing its own defense. Invar missiles will make India more combat-capable, particularly on the north and western borders where most of the T-90 tanks are stationed.
The clearance follows in the wake of Operation Sindoor, an Indian precision military strike after a terror strike at Pahalgam. The operation showed growing dependency by India on indigenous defense technologies, such as drones and electronic warfare platforms.

This acquisition of missiles is another step by India in its constant effort to advance defense officials and national security.
