Rani Kamalapati Railway Station in Bhopal is India’s first private railway station, built under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The Bansal Group redeveloped and manages the station after signing an eight-year agreement with Indian Railways. The authorities named the station after the brave queen of the Gond dynasty, Rani Kamalapati.

This station is a symbol of modern infrastructure and luxury. The designers modeled it after Germany’s Heidelberg railway station and built it to world-class standards. The station provides a five-star experience to travelers and has received a 5-star GEM Sustainability rating from ASSOCHAM for being environment-friendly.


Several premium trains like Vande Bharat Express, Shatabdi Express, Duronto Express, Garib Rath, Rajdhani, and Tejas Express pass through this station. It features excellent facilities such as air-conditioned lounges, clean restrooms, and waiting halls that can seat up to 1,000 people.

The station also has fast escalators, lifts, and covered parking areas for smooth passenger movement. With over 160 CCTV cameras, security has been given top priority. The architecture is grand, making the station look like a luxurious palace. Travelers often compare it to an airport due to its high-end design.

This station acts as a central hub in Bhopal’s integrated multimodal transport network. The aim is to provide comfort, cleanliness, safety, and a smooth travel experience to all passengers.
