India Pakistan Conflict: Retired Indian Army Veterans are back

In a rare display of patriotism, Retired Indian Army Veterans, Captain Amar Jeet Kumar (Retd) at 75, has voluntarily stepped forward to serve in the Indian Army again following rising tensions between India and Pakistan. His appeal has inspired several other retired officers like Major RC Upadhyay (73 years), Brigadier Balbir Singh Sambyal, Colonel Ramesh Khatri, Lt Gen MK Mago, and Colonel Rajinder Kumar Sharma, a Kirti Chakra, Shaurya Chakra, and Sena Medal winner from Jammu.

Retired Indian Army Veterans are back:

Capt Amar Jeet Kumar, a war hero of the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, wrote an emotional letter to the Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, eager to serve the nation once again. Without any expectation of reward. He underlined the fact that a soldier can be taken away from war, but war cannot be taken away from a soldier, appealing to the Army Chief to deploy him wherever needed.

Other Veterans Join the Cause

To Capt Kumar’s call, some other retired officers have stepped forward:

Major RC Upadhyay (73) – Former officer with a long track of combat experience.

Brigadier Balbir Singh Sambyal – Retired in Jammu, known for his command in counterinsurgency operations.

Colonel Ramesh Khatri – Decorated officer from New Delhi.

Lt Gen MK Mago – Senior retired officer with extensive operational experience.

Colonel Rajinder Kumar Sharma – A Shaurya Chakra and Sena Medal and Kirti Chakra awardee, for his bravery in Jammu.

Indian Army’s Response: A Tribute to Immortal Service

The Indian Army went social to acknowledge the veterans’ unwavering dedication, sharing a message under the heading “Operation Sindoor: A Testament to Eternal Service “Our brave #Veterans’ unwavering dedication shines brighter than ever as they step forward to serve once again. Their unwavering dedication is the greatest example of #ServiceBeforeSelf, inspiring a nation and providing hope to every heart.”.

#IndianArmy Forever Proud, Forever Grateful—because their Spirit of Sacrifice is the spine of our #NationFirst.

A Nation Inspired

The selfless acts of these veterans have touched India as a nation, fellow soldiers and civilians alike. Their commitment is a powerful proof of the spirit of sacrifice that has defined India’s military. Even though the Army has yet to make an official response to their gestures, their patriotism and courage continue to inspire a nation.
