India-Pakistan Tensions: Deteriorating relations between India and Pakistan have caused widespread air transport disruption. As the largest airlines in the world have ceased flight operations into and out of big border towns. Air India and IndiGo suspended temporarily service to certain cities. While ensuring passenger safety remains their prime concern with escalation of crisis.
Air India terminated Jammu, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot operations, while IndiGo temporarily suspended its operations to Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Leh, Srinagar, and Rajkot. Both the operators, in public reports, ensured the masses that they have the situation very much in hand and will do so accordingly while making adjustments.
These disruptions come days after the reopening of some airports to civilian air traffic on May 12, following an overnight shutdown to raise security fears. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) cleared 32 airports off civilian air traffic with hopes of reopening services by May 15. The fresh turbulence came after a lethal terror strike in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22 killed 26. Cross-border infiltration was confirmed by investigations, and India conducted Operation Sindoor on May 7. The operation was launched by the armed forces against nine key terror bases in Pakistan and PoK. Against the militant organizations’ camps including Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), and Hizbul Mujahideen. Over 100 terrorists are reported killed during the operation.

In return, Pakistan engaged in missile and drone attacks on western India, which were successfully countered by Indian air defense. India also counterattacked with precision bombing of Pakistani military installations, including key targets like Rafiqui, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, and Sialkot.
