Indian Stock Market Update Today:
The Indian stock market is expected to open flat today, June 5, 2025, due to mixed signals from global markets. The Gift Nifty is trading around 24,731, showing only a slight gain of 2 points compared to the previous Nifty futures close. This suggests that there may not be any major movement when the Indian markets open.
Asian markets gave mixed results. Japan’s Nikkei 225 and Topix indices fell, while South Korea’s Kospi and Kosdaq moved up. The US market also showed mixed results. The Dow Jones fell slightly, but the Nasdaq and S\&P 500 closed higher. Weak economic data in the US caused a drop in treasury yields and increased interest in safe-haven assets like gold.
Indian Market Performance Yesterday
On Wednesday, the Indian market ended its three-day losing streak. The Sensex rose by 260.74 points to close at 80,998.25, and the Nifty 50 went up by 77.70 points, ending at 24,620.20. Experts say this gain was supported by stable banking stocks and a drop in the India VIX (Volatility Index). However, they advised investors to be cautious as the weekly expiry is due today.
Recent US data shows slower job growth. Private companies added only 37,000 jobs in May, the lowest since March 2023. Economists expected over 100,000 new jobs. Also, the US Services PMI dropped to 49.9, indicating contraction in the services sector for the first time in a year.
Crude oil prices dropped due to increased fuel stock in the US and price cuts by Saudi Arabia. Brent crude is now at \$64.70 per barrel. Meanwhile, gold prices increased slightly due to weak US data, with spot gold at \$3,377.79 an ounce.
Analysts suggest investors should focus on stock-specific strategies instead of broader market trends. Rotation buying is happening in different sectors, so careful planning is key.
