What Happened: Iran Strikes US Military Bases
On Sunday evening, Iran launched a barrage of missiles and drones targeting US bases in Iraq and Syria. In response to what it had termed recent aggressions and attacks against its regional allies. The attacks did not target Qatar, though the nation is home to Al Udeid Air Base, the largest US military base in the Middle East.

This closeness to American military hardware has been a cause of concern for spillover effects, particularly if tensions between Iran and the US keep escalating.


Indians in Qatar at Risk : Indian Embassy Advisory

The Indian Embassy in Doha issued an urgent advisory on its social media sites. The embassy asked Indian nationals in Qatar to:

Stay indoors and undertake no unnecessary travel

Be vigilant and heed official government guidance

Register with the embassy for live updates

The advisory stressed that although Qatar has not been explicitly attacked, the situation is still volatile and precautions need to be taken.

Qatar on High Alert
Qatar’s internal security forces have been said to intensify surveillance around major government buildings and foreign embassies. Flights are still in service, but a number of international carriers are keenly monitoring the situation to see if route modification or delays occur.
