IndiGo Flight Declares Mayday; 168 Lives Saved

IndiGo Flight Declares Mayday:

An IndiGo flight from Guwahati to Chennai had to make an emergency landing in Bengaluru on Thursday evening after the pilots declared a “Mayday” due to low fuel. The aircraft was carrying 168 passengers at the time.

IndiGo Flight Declares Mayday:

According to reports, the fuel level had dropped to a critical level, prompting the crew to take immediate action. Once the distress signal was sent, Air Traffic Control (ATC) at Kempegowda International Airport quickly responded by alerting emergency teams. Fire and medical teams were kept ready on the ground as a precautionary measure. Thankfully, the aircraft landed safely at 8:20 pm and no one was injured.

Following standard safety procedures, both pilots have been removed from the roster temporarily pending further investigation. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is expected to look into the incident and review all actions taken by the airline and its staff.

This incident comes shortly after another major aviation scare involving Air India. On June 12, an Air India Dreamliner flight heading to London from Ahmedabad crashed after takeoff, bursting into flames and hitting residential buildings. The tragedy raised serious questions about airline safety standards.

Adding to the concerns, another IndiGo flight bound for Madurai had a mid-air technical problem on Friday. It was forced to return to Chennai where it landed safely with all 68 passengers deplaned without harm.

These recent events have put the spotlight back on aviation safety protocols in India. Authorities are expected to conduct strict checks to ensure that such incidents do not repeat in the future.
