Indigo Flight Gate Malfunction:On June 17, 2025, a troubling incident occurred at Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. An Indigo flight arriving from Delhi landed safely at 2:25 PM, but passengers were unable to exit due to a technical fault with the aircraft gate. The gate remained locked, leaving everyone onboard for nearly 40 minutes.
Among the passengers were several prominent individuals, including former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, MLA Chaturi Nand, and Raipur Mayor Meenal Chaubey. The delay raised concerns, especially in light of the recent tragic Ahmedabad plane crash, which has left many travelers uneasy.
According to Mayor Meenal Chaubey, the technical glitch prevented the required gate-opening signal from appearing on the pilot’s display. As a result, the airport staff couldn’t open the gate without official clearance. Thankfully, there was no shortage of air conditioning or drinking water inside the plane, so passengers were not severely inconvenienced.
Despite the delay, engineers managed to manually unlock the gate and ensure all passengers disembarked safely. However, the situation caused anxiety among many due to its timing after the fatal Air India crash from Ahmedabad to London.
So far, Indigo Airlines has not released any official statement about the gate malfunction. Authorities believe the issue stemmed from a system error in the aircraft’s communication and signaling equipment.
Meanwhile Passengers are increasingly worried about flight safety, making it essential for airlines to review and strengthen their maintenance and communication systems to prevent future mishaps.
