Indore Metro: Indore Metro will begin its commercial operations on May 31, and MPMRCL will offer free rides to Indoreans during the first week. Passengers can board the train by simply scanning a QR code at the station.
To encourage continued use of the metro for daily commutes, MP Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) will roll out a three-month promotional discount program. In the second week, passengers will receive a 75% fare discount. The discount will be reduced to 50% in the third week and then to 25%, which will continue through the end of the third month.
Indore Metro Free Rides:
MPMRCL has already finalized the fare structure for the Super Priority Corridor segment. The five-station route between Gandhi Nagar and Super Corridor-03 will cost passengers between Rs 20 and Rs 30. Under the current plan, Metro trains will operate every 30 minutes from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., completing 25 trips in each direction daily, for a total of 50 round trips per day. As the Yellow Line network expands to 28 stations, authorities will implement fare slabs ranging from Rs 20 to Rs 80, depending on the travel zones.
Indore Metro Free Rides: QR-Based Ticketing
Commuters will be able to use QR-based ticketing in the first phase, while authorities will roll out other digital ticketing methods gradually in a stepwise manner. Senior MPMRCL executives stated that staff will handle ticketing manually at the start. The authorities took this decision after investigating possible anti-India activities by a Turkish company that had received the contract for Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) in Indore and Bhopal metro systems.
A senior official said, “We have alternative arrangements, so staff will handle ticketing manually until we receive further instructions from the state government.” Passengers can also pay using QR-based methods.
