Influencer Murdered: Jaspreet Singh and Nimratjit Singh, two individuals that Bathinda Police have detained, are accused of killing Kanchan Kumari, also known as Kamal Kaur Bhabhi. At Bhucho Kalan in Bathinda, close to Adesh University, the social media influencer was discovered dead in a car.
With thousands of followers, Kanchan Kumari was a well-known social media influencer. According to reports, both of the accused are Nihangs. In Sikhism, the Nihangs are a warrior sect. They are distinguished by their traditional arms, ornate turbans, and characteristic blue clothing. However, when the accused allegedly committed the crime, they were not dressed traditionally. The third individual still at large is Amritpal Singh Mehron, a self-described Sikh radical leader.
“She had previously been warned by the main conspirator, Amritpal Singh, to cease sharing ‘vulgar’ movies, and he had intended to discipline her. On Tuesday, he and others planned a plot and strangled her to death in a remote area, according to Bathinda SSP Amneet Kondal.

Here’s How the Accused Planned It:
Police claim that Kanchan was strangled in her car using a waistband. It seems that “unauthorized moral policing” was the driving force for the murder. According to the accused, Kanchan’s social media posts were immoral and offended local feelings. Mehron had invited Kanchan to Bathinda for a paid promotional event a few days before the murder.
“He persuaded her to go to Bathinda during his second visit the following day. He reached out to her once more on June 9, and she consented. Her mother then stopped communicating with her after 11 p.m. that evening, the SSP continued. On June 9, she and Jaspreet, and Nimratjit departed from her Ludhiana home. She was murdered in her vehicle a few hours later.
In the past, Kanchan had been threatened for publishing daring content. She was also cautioned to cease spreading such movies by Arsh Dalla, a terrorist, last October. After a hardline Sikh gang took credit for the murder on social media, police moved swiftly. Her remains were discovered in a deteriorated state. To discover the third accused and guarantee justice, investigations are still on. The police statement was posted on Amritpal Singh Mehron’s Instagram account. “The winds may try to decide who shines, but only the lamp with strength within will truly burn,” is how one would interpret his uncompromising response.
