International Yoga Day 2025: International Yoga Day 2025 was India’s day of glory as the country created a space in history books by shattering not one, but five world records. With lakhs of yoga lovers taking part from states, the event represented India’s dedication towards wellness, discipline, and rich heritage. And look how great records were shattered and Indian cities dominated.
India’s spiritual capital, Varanasi, set the biggest record with more than 1.2 lakh people doing yoga simultaneously at Ganga River banks. The session, in association with partner Ministry of AYUSH and UNESCO observers, was a world record for the largest single-session yoga event at a single site.
New Delhi hosted over 110 countries at Kartavya Path, near India Gate. Foreign students, yoga masters, and foreign envoys being in the city, the city created a record of the maximum number of nationalities engaging in yoga as one. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also participated, emphasizing how yoga brings the world together.
Bengaluru entered the record books by organizing a 72-hour uninterrupted yoga marathon at Kanteerava Stadium. Hundreds of volunteers from IT professionals, students, and elderly people took turns in batches so that there was continuity, and this ensured that stress was minimized and work-life balance was achieved.
Hyderabad evolved into the cyber space with yoga by performing the biggest virtual yoga session globally with more than 30 lakh individuals logging in from Zoom, YouTube, and social media. Offices, schools, and gyms participated from across the world, erasing geographical boundaries and making it a borderless wellness program.
Ahmedabad set a new record by bringing together more than 80,000 children in one stadium to participate in a coordinated yoga session. The campaign, carried out by the Gujarat Education Board, was an attempt to instill healthy habits in children from an early age.
