iPhone, MacBook at Risk: Indian Govt Flags Major Security Threat

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY)’s cybersecurity watchdog, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), has issued a risk alert to Apple users, alerting them to the numerous security flaws in the Cupertino-based tech giant’s products that could give an attacker access to their private data.

Numerous Apple devices, including iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, Apple TVs, and even Vision Pro, are susceptible. According to the CERT-In warning, the danger may mainly target businesses and individuals who are connected to the Apple ecosystem and possess several Apple products. According to the advice, there is a significant chance of “unauthorized access, data theft, or gain control of affected system” with the possibility for denial of service and data modification if nothing is done.

What is High-Risk Warning:

Apple products have been found to have “multiple vulnerabilities which could allow an attacker to access sensitive information, execute arbitrary code, bypass security restrictions, cause denial of service (DoS) conditions, bypass authentication, gain elevated privileges, manipulate data, and perform spoofing attacks on the targeted system,” according to a CERT-In advisory dated April 4.

Solution:

According to CERT-In, Apple has already released the relevant patches in its most recent upgrades. Therefore, it is best to update the software on your Apple device by navigating to Settings and selecting Software Update.
