IRCTC Update: Indian Railways is revamping its high-speed travel amenities with the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train, which will introduce an easy and faster long-distance journey experience. With successful test runs of a maximum speed of 180 km/h, this sleeper variant has promised improved speed, passenger comfort, and world-class amenities, replacing overnight train travel.
Production of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train is also in an advanced developmental stage by the Chennai Integral Coach Factory (ICF) too. It has been said that the first sleeper rake will be on track by October 2026, and some routes will even have running trains as early as July 2025. With the trials underway already, people eagerly look forward to its extensive implementation on key corridors.
Proposed Routes and Hubs
Indian Railways will introduce the Vande Bharat Sleeper on some of its high-priority routes such as:
Bareilly to Mumbai to provide a still more convenient and faster facility for passengers.
Agra to Mumbai, shortening the travel time by nearly six hours.
New Delhi to Pune, traveling 1,589 kilometers in roughly 20 hours, which will be the fastest available on the route.
These are planned to provide night connectivity at high speeds, transforming the journey of long-distance commuters.
Sleeper variant of Vande Bharat is crafted for comfort and performance with:
Fully air-conditioned coaches with modern interiors.
Improved doors and safety features.
Wi-Fi facility for entertainment and work.
Soft cushioned berths for luxurious sleeping.
Power-efficient lighting and improved staircases for ease.
The train and noise reduction system ride quality will ensure the ride is jerk-free and luxurious for the passengers.
Since the induction of Vande Bharat Sleeper Train is pending, Indian Railways is in the process of creating a route for high-speed, enhanced long-distance travel. Since the rail network is being upgraded state-of-the-art, this sleeper variant will prove to be a game-changer because it will provide the traveling public with a world-class, comfortable, and efficient journey experience.
