Is Trump Really Named in the Epstein Files? Facts Explained

Epstein Files: Elon Musk made a serious accusation against President Donald Trump on Thursday, claiming that the administration is withholding the list because he is listed in the Epstein Files. After all the pretenses fell off, Elon Musk and Donald Trump began criticizing one another in what turned out to be a public mudslinging match.

Trump-Epstein Connection:

The term “Epstein files” refers to a wide range of records, mostly court documents, related to financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who died in 2019. These records often come from Virginia Giuffre’s 2015 defamation lawsuit against Epstein’s associate, Ghislaine Maxwell. They include contact lists, witness statements, flight logs, and other materials tied to Epstein’s activities. The files name several well-known individuals who had social, professional, or other forms of contact with Epstein.

However, many people met Epstein casually at social events, so a name appearing in these files doesn’t necessarily imply wrongdoing. The U.S. Department of Justice, under Attorney General Pam Bondi, began releasing large batches of these documents in January 2024 and February 2025.

Trump Flew on Epstein’s Lolita Express:

Reports indicate that Donald Trump’s name appears in these records, particularly in the flight logs from Jeffrey Epstein’s private jet, the “Lolita Express.” Between 1993 and 1997, Trump reportedly took seven trips on the plane, mostly between Palm Beach, Florida, and New York City. Jeffrey Epstein flew on at least some of those flights, along with Trump’s then-wife Marla Maples, their daughter Tiffany, and a babysitter.

In a 2001 testimony, Epstein’s complainant Johanna Sjoberg recalled Epstein suggesting they visit one of Trump’s casinos after his jet was rerouted to Atlantic City. Epstein also listed Trump in his contact book, alongside other prominent names like Mick Jagger and Ivana Trump.

Elon Musk Hints at Big Bomb:

In a 2002 interview, Trump called Epstein a “terrific” guy, but he cut ties with him once the accusations became public. Although Elon Musk offered no evidence, he hinted at something deeper than a casual connection by calling his claims a “big bomb.” He suggested that unreleased documents reveal more about Epstein’s ties to Trump.

Trump later said he banned Epstein from Mar-a-Lago and claimed they fell out over a real estate dispute in 2004. While speculation continues about a so-called “client list,” no evidence has confirmed Trump’s direct involvement in Epstein’s crimes.
