Renowned lyricist and poet Javed Akhtar recently took to social media to silence a troll who accused him of secretly supporting Pakistan. The heated exchange took place on X (formerly Twitter), where Akhtar is known for his bold and unapologetic opinions on socio-political matters.
The controversy arose when an X user alleged that Akhtar had a hidden inclination towards Pakistan despite his patriotic stance. The accusation seemed to stem from one of his post he recently made. Javed took a moment on his X to praise Virat Kohli as India marked victory against Pakistan yesterday.
“Virat Kohli , zindabad. !!! . We all are so so so proud of you !!!”, Javed posted.
Not to mention, an user from X commented under his post, ” Javed Babar ka Baap hai bolo Jai Sri ram”. Akhtar responded with a sharp rebuttal reply, “Maen to sirf yeh kahoonga ke tum eik neech insaan ho aur neech hi marogay . Tum kya jano desh prem kya hota hai”,dismissing the claim as baseless and questioning the troll’s understanding of nationalism.

Javed Akhtar, known for his articulate expression and wit, replied, “Beta jab tumhare baap dada angrez ke jootay chaat rahe thay tab mere aazadi ke liye jai aur kala paani mein thay . Meri ragon mein desh premion ka khoon hai aur tumhari ragon mein angrez ke naukaron ka khoon hai . Iss anter ko bhoolo nahin.” He intended to state that patriotism does not equate to blind hatred for another country. He emphasized that his criticisms of extremism and fundamentalism extend beyond borders and are not restricted to any one nation. His response garnered widespread support from netizens, who appreciated his fearless stance against misinformation and online trolling.
