Kerala Marketing Firm Abuse: A marketing company in Kerala has been accused of inhumane treatment of its underperforming employees. It is alleged that the company forced the employees to walk on their knees like dogs and asked them to lick coins from the floor.
As soon as the video footage of this incident was broadcast on local TV channels, the state’s labour department ordered an inquiry into this alleged inhuman harassment at the workplace. The police and labour department have also started an investigation to find out the truth of these videos. A person seen in the video said – There was no harassment
However, later a person seen in the video footage said in a conversation with the media that there was no harassment in the company, what is being shown in the video is not true.

The person said, I am still working in the company. These videos were forcibly made a few months ago by a person, who was the management of the company at that time. Later, he was fired from the management and now he is using these videos to malign the image of the company owner. He also gave this statement to the police and the labour department. Following his statement, Labour Minister V. Sivankutty ordered an inquiry into the incident and asked the District Labour Officer to submit an immediate report.
The video shows a man tied to a leash and crawling on the ground on his knees, as if he were a dog. Later, some people (said to be company employees) told a TV channel that the management used to punish employees who failed to achieve their targets.
Kerala Company owner denies allegations
According to the police, the incident is linked to a private marketing company in Kaloor. The police said they have not received any complaint yet and the company owner has denied the allegations. The owner said in the statement that the alleged harassment possibly took place at a firm based in Perumbavoor, which markets and sells his company’s products in Kaloor. An official said no case has been registered so far and investigations are underway.
Incident not acceptable under any circumstances: Sivankutty
Labour Minister Sivankutty described the footage as shocking and disturbing and said it cannot be accepted under any circumstances, especially in a state like Kerala. He said, I have ordered an inquiry into the incident and directed the District Labour Officer to investigate the incident and submit a report. The State Human Rights Commission has also taken cognizance of the incident.
