Key Update on Telangana Ration Cards!

The Telangana government is planning to issue smart cards in the form of QR codes for the newly issued cards. These cards will be issued with a woman’s photo as the head of the family. The Revanth government has invited tenders to issue old cards with QR codes as well. With this, there is a chance that the issuance of new ration cards will take some more time.

Key Update on Telangana Ration Cards

It is well known that the Telangana government has started distributing new ration cards. On January 26, CM Revanth Reddy started the process of granting ration cards. However, the Revanth Sarkar has taken a key decision regarding the newly issued ration cards. Unlike the previous ones, it is ready to issue them in the form of ‘smart’ cards, similar to ATM cards. Telangana Civil Supply Department officials are working on this. It has been decided that a QR code should be given to each smart ration card. The government is already considering various designs on how the smart card should be. It is learnt that the process of these designs will come to a conclusion in a few days.
Currently, there are about 90 lakh families in Telangana with ration cards. There are also about 20 lakh new applicants recently. New ration cards are to be issued to those eligible among them. The verification process of the respective districts has already been completed at the field level.

Further update on ration card

The government has earlier decided to issue new ration cards from March 1 in districts without MLC election codes and from March 8 in the remaining districts. However, it is reported that the issuance process will be further delayed as ration cards will be issued in the form of ‘smart’ cards with QR code instead of regular cards.

Along with the new cards, it is learnt that smart ration cards with QR code will also be issued to those who already have ration cards. The Civil Supplies Department has already called for tenders in this regard. The final deadline for submission of bids has been given till March 25th. Officials revealed that the pre-bid meeting will be held on March 17th. New smart cards will be issued in the name of women as the head of the family. The woman’s photo will be printed on it. When you go to the ration shop and scan the QR code, the details of everyone in that family will be displayed. After that, ration items can be purchased. It is learnt that the smart cards will be sanctioned by the end of this month.
