March Heat Intensifies – Will May Be Even Hotter?

The summer heat in Andhra Pradesh is set to intensify over the next three days. The Meteorological Department has issued a heat wave alert warning residents to take necessary precautions as temperatures continue to rise.


Weather Conditions in Andhra Pradesh

A surface trough extends from central Odisha to southern Chhattisgarh at an altitude of 0.9km above sea level. Another surface circulation extends from Marathwada to southern Tamil Nadu passing through interior Karnataka. Due to these weather conditions south eastern and south western winds are blowing across Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.


As a result the state will experience dry weather with no significant changes in maximum temperatures over the next three days.

Region-wise Weather Forecast

1 North Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam: Dry weather is expected today, tomorrow, and the day after. No major change in maximum temperatures.
2. South Coastal Andhra Pradesh: Dry weather will continue for the next three days, with no major temperature variations.
3 . Rayalaseema: Similar dry weather conditions are expected with consistently high temperatures.

Heatwave Impact in Various Districts

On Wednesday, Rayalaseema recorded the highest temperatures in the state. Kurnool reached a maximum of 41°C, making it one of the hottest places in Andhra Pradesh. Other districts affected by the heatwave include:

– Rayalaseema Region: Kurnool, YSR Kadapa, Chittoor, Anantapur
– Coastal Andhra Pradesh: Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Yanam (Puducherry), Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, and Nellore

The Meteorological Department advises residents in these areas to stay cautious and avoid exposure to extreme heat.

Precautionary Measures

1. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water, fruit juices, and buttermilk to keep yourself cool.
2. Avoid Sun Exposure: Try to stay indoors between 12 PM and 3 PM when the heat is at its peak.
3. Wear Light Clothing: Choose cotton clothes and use sunglasses, hats, or umbrellas when stepping outside.
4. Take Care of the Elderly & Children: Ensure they remain indoors and stay hydrated.
5. Use Cooling Methods: Take frequent cool showers and use fans or air conditioning if possible.

With extreme temperatures expected to continue, residents must take these warnings seriously. The authorities urge everyone to follow safety measures and protect themselves from the heatwave.
