Zebra Airlifted: A zebra named Ed decided he wasn’t quite ready to settle into his new home in Tennessee, just like many of us who have felt uncomfortable in unfamiliar surroundings. Ed went into the woods a day after arriving in Rutherford County, USA, setting off a week-long pursuit that culminated in a spectacular helicopter rescue and a now-viral video.
Only a day after moving into his new home, the zebra broke free, but on Sunday, he was apprehended and transported to safety. Just twenty-four hours after being taken to his new residence, Ed was reported missing on May 31, according to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office.
The zebra was seen several times over the following few days, including along Interstate 24, which deputies momentarily closed to prevent any collisions. Ed escaped from officials despite multiple attempts to apprehend him, vanishing into neighboring Tennessee greens. Ed was rescued by a helicopter by the sheriff’s office aviation staff in a spectacular rescue. The cat was seen floating in midair, his head protruding and his legs drooping. Ed was put in a basket for protection.
