Mock Drills Across the Country:
A high-level meeting has been arranged by the Union Home Ministry. It has held a video conference with the states’ DGPs and CSs. On Wednesday, mock drills will take place in 259 locations nationwide. Three categories have been established for the districts that are most likely to experience assaults. They have been separated into energy hubs, ports, defense, and metro areas. Category-A now includes the Tarapur nuclear reactor in Maharashtra and the nation’s capital, Delhi. Delhi is Pakistan’s primary target because nearly every department has its headquarters there.
Mock Drill in Hyderabad & Vizag:
On Wednesday, the Union Home Ministry directed authorities to conduct war readiness mock drills in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam. The Center issued detailed guidelines to state officials, law enforcement, and fire personnel on how to carry out the simulated exercise.
Along with city-wide instructions, the ministry shared a list of specific locations where simulated attacks are likely and where the drills should take place. It also sent this list to the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Officials plan to conduct the mock drills on Wednesday, following the Center’s directives.
What is Mock Drill?
A mock drill serves as a practice run to prepare for real war-like situations in the cities. During the drill, authorities will cut off power and block mobile signals. They will also divert traffic to simulate emergency conditions. Paramilitary forces are conducting the drill to help citizens understand how to respond in such scenarios.
