Modi and Trump Visit Explained: MAGA+MIGA=MEGA

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the US President Donald Trump in his 2-day trip to the US. India’s PM met several US officials along with Donald Trump to deepen the strategic partnerships between the two nations. The two prominent leaders launched several initiatives and discussed various subjects, including defense partnerships in the 21st century, accelerated commerce and technology, national security, upholding the interests of citizens of both countries and much more.
Doubling the Trade:
Narendra Modi and Donald Trump are popular leaders in the world known for their exemplary impact on the world stage. Both leaders share warm camaraderie and often express their mutual admiration. As part of this meeting, both leaders introduced “Mission-500,” a progressive initiative that targets doubling two-way trade to $500 billion by 2030. India and US aim to double bilateral trade to $500 billion in the next five years.


“Today, we have also set a target to increase our bilateral trade to more than double, reaching USD 500 billion by 2030. Our teams will work on finalising very soon a mutually beneficial trade agreement,” PM Modi said, emphasising that the two nations are committed to moving forward in the direction of joint development, joint production, and transfer of technology.

Combined Initiatives


Modi and Trump welcomed the growing integration of US-origin defense systems into India’s arsenal, including aircraft such as the C-130J Super Hercules, C-17 Globemaster III, P-81 Poseidon, CH-47F Chinook, MH-60R Seahawk, and AH-64E Apache helicopters, as well as Harpoon anti-ship missiles, M777 howitzers, and MQ-9B drones.

Narendra Modi addressed the press and shared his remarks during his meeting with Donald Trump. This is Modi’s first visit to the US after Donald Trump became the President for the second time.
