Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train: India’s much-hyped Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project has achieved a colossal milestone with the completion of 300 kilometers of viaducts. The achievement is a significant milestone on the way to realizing the nation’s first high-speed rail corridor, which will transform inter-city travel.
The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has declared 300 km long strategic viaduct structures on the 508 km long route as successfully completed. The achievement was commemorated by constructing a 40-metre-long full-span box girder at Surat in Gujarat, which was an indication of state-of-the-art engineering techniques.
Out of the 300 km viaduct construction,
257.4 km were built utilizing the Full Span Launching Method (FSLM) and 14 river bridges were among them.
37.8 km utilized the Span by Span (SBS) technique.
0.9 km. had steel bridges at seven points.
1.2 km. had pre-stressed concrete (PSC) bridges.
2.7 km. had the station buildings.
New equipment such as straddle carriers, launching gantries, bridge gantries and girder transporters were employed in order to facilitate quick construction. The method of full span launching caused a considerable efficiency boost. And girder construction was ten times quicker compared to traditional methods.
For noise pollution reduction, more than 3 lakh noise barriers were placed over viaducts. The project has also been going well with 383 km. of pier work, 401 km. of foundation and 326 km. of girder casting completed.
Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project will cut travel time enormously and bring Japanese Shinkansen technology to Indian rail network. With track laying going strong, this high-speed corridor will transform rail connectivity in the nation.
