New Luggage Rules on Indian Railways: Check New Guidelines

New Luggage Rules: According to the media source, Indian Railways intends to implement a pilot scheme at strategic railway stations throughout India to control baggage policies and increase station revenue. The action is similar to the one already in place at airports and aims to regulate luggage policies across railway stations. People frequently carry heavy luggage when traveling by rail because there are currently no weight checks performed at railroads.

New Luggage Rules in Railways:

Depending on their reservations, travelers will be permitted to carry a certain weight under the proposed regulations. Only once their luggage has been tagged and cleared at the stations will passengers be permitted onto the platforms. Travelers will be penalized if they bring excessive luggage, even if it is within the allowed weight limit. Passengers traveling in first, second, and sleeper classes will all have different allotted weights.

Authorities intend to deploy electronic weighing devices at major stations in order to enforce the new baggage regulations. Mirzapur, Prayagraj Junction, Kanpur Central, Tundla, Aligarh Junction, Chheoki, and Subedarganj are among the stations in the National Capital Region that would be covered by the initial rollout.
