Odisha Bandh Update: Odisha Bandh is led by the opposition parties against the Congress government’s rule in the state. This 12-hour statewide bandh today is to demand a fair investigation into the shocking incident of self-immolation of a 20-year-old Balasore student who alleged sexual harassment. All over the state, schools, colleges, markets, and complete vehicle movement are standstill as of now, except the emergency services. This whole protest is now completely active in Balasore, Bhubaneswar, and Cuttack. According to the media reports, almost 200 police officers are deployed at the site to tighten security.

They also used AI-driven drones for surveillance, guarded government buildings, and monitored key routes to prevent violence after clashes between BJD workers and police during earlier protests. Despite heightened tensions, protestors maintained a largely peaceful demonstration. However, sit-ins blocked trains at Bhadrak and impacted services along National Highways and NH‑16.

What is Open and Closed in State?

Shops and offices shut down, buses remained parked, and minor scuffles occurred near Bhubaneswar’s Master Canteen Square before police intervened. The bandh also affected basic services. Ambulance delays sparked public outrage, notably an elderly man postponed his blood donation due to protesters blocking roads. However, essential services like hospitals and pharmacies remained operational.

Political voices demanded accountability: Judicial inquiry is raised by Congress and BJD. They have also asked for resignations of officials, and criticized the state government for covering up the incident. After these demands government has responded by arresting the accused professor and principal and promising a thorough investigation.

Will the Odisha Bandh Continue Tomorrow?
According to the sources, if the fair investigation update is not given properly and if there is no progress in their demand, this protest might continue for tomorrow also. As per the police officials, they have secured all the key routes to prevent any blockages, and they are also planning to allow citizens to work as usual. The police department is taking complete security measures for tomorrow also.
