Operation Sindoor: In a heart-wrenching demonstration of patriotism, 10-year-old Shravan Singh of Punjab’s Ferozepur district’s Mamdot village has been rewarded by the Indian Army as Youngest Civil Warrior in Operation Sindoor. His humanity in aiding soldiers posted near his house earned him national recognition and respect.
Shravan Singh took extra efforts in Operation Sindoor to serve tea and other refreshing beverages to Indian troops posted in his village. Even during peak summer, he himself would carry water, tea, milk, lassi, and ice to the troops quite easily, giving them relief and boosting their morale. His strong persuasion and dedication had a major impact on the troops who were engaged in the operation.
Shravan’s efforts did not go unnoticed. He was awarded by Major General Ranjeet Singh Manral, General Officer Commanding of 7 Infantry Division, in a ceremony. The award showcases the importance of civilian contributions towards national security projects and illustrates. How even the youngest of citizens can play a gigantic role in assisting the armed forces.
Shravan’s father, Sona Singh, was delighted with the actions of his son. He explained how Shravan enjoyed serving the Army and how his commitment never wavered. Shravan himself has spoken about how he desires to become a soldier when he becomes an adult, testifying that he desires to serve the nation like the soldiers whom he served.
Operation Sindoor came into being on May 7, 2025, as the counter-offensive following the Pahalgam terror strikes on April 22. The Army launched precision strikes on nine terror camps across Pakistan and in PoK-a historic milestone in India’s terror tit-for-tat.
