After Operation Sindoor, India-Pakistan relations deteriorated. Pakistan tried to attack Jammu, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat, but India effectively repelled them. Pakistan announced that two of its JF-17 fighter jets were shot down. However, there are reports that India shot down an F-16 and captured the pilot. However, Pakistan has purchased F-16 fighter jets from the United States. Moreover, there are regulations that prohibit Pakistan from using F-16s in combat without the permission of the United States. And now that Pakistan has violated them, there is suspense about what the next consequences will be.
After Operation Sindoor , the situation between India and Pakistan has completely deteriorated. There is a war situation between the two countries. On Thursday night, Pakistan tried to attack Jammu, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. However, India effectively thwarted the conspiracies of its neighboring country.
Pakistan has officially announced that its Air Force has lost two JF-17 fighter jets in the ongoing conflict with India . However, there is a rumor that the Indian Army has also shot down an F-16 fighter jet and captured its pilot. This raises the question of whether Pakistan is allowed to use American-made F-16 fighter jets to attack India.
Pakistan has purchased F-16 fighter jets from the United States. However, the United States has imposed strict regulations on their use and modifications. Washington sold these fighter jets to Pakistan under the US Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program. According to the End-Use Monitoring (EUM), Pakistan should not freely use or modify these fighter jets without US permission. In addition, American teams are present in Pakistan as part of programs such as Golden Sentry and Lantern. Their duty is to ensure that American technology is not misused. These teams constantly monitor the deployment of aircraft and weapons.
According to these agreements, Pakistan is not allowed to use the F-16 fighter jets and AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles developed by the US in conventional warfare without US permission. Moreover, Pakistan is only allowed to use these aircraft in counter-terrorism operations. Pakistan is not allowed to use them in direct conflict between the two countries. So, even though US documents do not explicitly state that they should not be used against India, Pakistan’s F-16 fighter jets should not be used against India in a war-like situation.
