A tragic incident occurred during a film shoot in Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu, where well-known film director Pa. Ranjith and three others have been booked by the Keelaiyur Police. The case is related to the sudden death of stunt trainer Mohanraj during the filming of a movie produced by Neelam Productions.

Stunt Master Mohanraj’s Death Case:

The unfortunate event happened on Sunday in the village of Alappakkudi. Mohanraj, aged 52 and a resident of Poongandam in Kancheepuram district, was working as a professional stunt coordinator on the film set. According to reports, he collapsed during the shoot. He was immediately taken to the Nagapattinam Government Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.


Initially, the police registered the case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act. However, after a post-mortem and statements from eyewitnesses, the case was modified. It now includes charges under Section 289 (negligent conduct), Section 125 (abetment of an offence), and Section 106(1) (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the BNS Act.

Those named in the revised case include director Pa. Ranjith, stunt choreographer Vinoth, Rajkamal from Neelam Productions, and Prabhakaran. The incident has shocked the Tamil film industry and raised concerns over safety measures on film sets.

Mohanraj’s sudden passing has deeply saddened many in the film fraternity. Known for his dedication and professionalism, he had worked in the industry for years.

Police investigations are ongoing, and further details are expected in the coming days. This tragic event has once again highlighted the importance of strict safety protocols, especially during dangerous stunt sequences in films.
