Pakistan shocked by UN Security Council questions

UN Security Council: Pakistan suffered an unexpected setback in the United Nations Security Council. Condemning the Pahalgam terror attack, the council inquired into the role of Lashkar-e-Taiba. It expressed outrage over the targeting of religious tourists. The member states reacted strongly to Pakistan’s missile tests and nuclear threats. They advised Pakistan to resolve the issue through bilateral talks. They ignored any accusations made by its cousin against India. However, the UN member states rejected Pakistan’s efforts.

As the Indian Army prepares to avenge the Pahalgam terror attack in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir , Pakistan has received an unexpected shock at the United Nations Security Council. In the wake of the ongoing tensions with India after the Pahalgam terror attack, Pakistan has faced tough questions from the Security Council. The Security Council, which condemned the Pahalgam attack, has inquired into the role of the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist organization in Pakistani territory. Member states have expressed deep anger over the killing of tourists by a particular religion. Member states have also expressed their outrage over Pakistan’s recent missile tests. Moreover, the member states have also stated that the nuclear weapons warnings and nuclear threats made by Pakistani leaders are also factors that increase tensions.

Resolutions rejected

The member states rejected the resolution brought by Pakistan, one of the non-permanent members of the Security Council, in the name of ‘close dialogue’. They strongly condemned the terror attack and made it clear that those responsible need to be punished. Not only they highlighted the fact that tourists were targeted on religious grounds in the Pahalgam attack, but also rejected the ‘false flag’ argument that Pakistan often makes. They decided to resolve the issue with India through bilateral talks.

The UN Security Council has dismissed the complaints made by the cousins over the actions taken by India against Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack. The secret meeting ended without any resolution. Although Pakistan also raised the issue of revoking the Indus Waters Treaty, it was of no use.

No official statements were made

This emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, held at the request of Pakistan amid tensions with India, lasted for about an hour and a half. However, the meeting ended without any resolution. The UN did not issue any official statement. However, Pakistan once again tried to misuse the UN platform. Pakistan’s permanent representative Asim Iftikhar said.. They have once again accused India. They have tried to make India guilty on the international platform. The Kashmir issue was mentioned to divert the attention of the international community on the terrorist attack in Pahalgam.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed concern over the situation between India and Pakistan . He said that relations between the two countries have deteriorated badly and that these are the highest tensions in recent years. However, he made it clear that military action is not the solution to the problem. The UN Secretary-General expressed deep sorrow over the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22 and expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the attack.
