Prakash Raj Criticises: Favourite actor Prakash Raj, known to never hold his tongue about anything, has recently spoken about his take on actors Pawan Kalyan and Vijay joining politics. Addressing an audience in a session on the Prashna channel on YouTube, he cast aspersions on the political vision and awareness of these two politicians governing the nation, provoking controversy amongst the audience and political observers. His statements provoke one to question whether fame will lead to political success.
Prakash Raj compared the political life of Pawan Kalyan and Vijay, that both of them came into politics based on their pre-existing fan following and not out of an ideological cause. He made a comparison between the two that while Pawan Kalyan inherited the fans from his brother Chiranjeevi, Vijay gained popularity with the help of his father, director SA Chandrasekhar. As per Prakash, neither of the two actors ever seriously spoke to him about politics in the past. Thus validating his opinion that both are motivated to become politicians because of popularity and not because they know how to rule.
Prakash Raj contended that even though Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party exists for more than a decade now. He has yet to show a strong political vision or solutions to problems. In the case of Vijay, he said that though his speeches are good to large masses, whether he can engage in serious political discussions is questionable. He cautioned that to win seats on the back of general dissatisfaction with current parties is short-term gain only—genuine leadership involves long-term allegiance and methodical running of campaigns.
Pawan Kalyan became Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister in 2024 after a successful TDP-BJP alliance. Vijay, on the other hand, is already looking forward to the 2026 Tamil Nadu elections with a view to building Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam into a politically forceful organization to be counted among. Only time will tell if their politician image would take a backseat to their movie star image.
