Preity Zinta Files Legal Case: Bollywood actress and co-owner of IPL team Punjab Kings, Preity Zinta, has filed a legal case against her fellow board members Mohit Burman and Ness Wadia. The case was submitted in a Chandigarh court. All three are directors of KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited, which owns the cricket franchise.
Preity Zinta is challenging a board meeting held on April 21. She argues that the meeting violated the rules in the Companies Act, 2013, and other legal guidelines. In an email on April 10, Zinta raised her concerns about the meeting but says the board ignored them. She claims Burman led the meeting with support from Wadia.
Although Zinta and another director, Karan Paul, attended the meeting, she now asks the court to declare it invalid. One of her main objections is the appointment of Muneesh Khanna as a new director. Both Zinta and Paul opposed his appointment.
In her legal plea, Zinta asks the court to stop Khanna from functioning as a director and to cancel all decisions made during the April 21 meeting. She also requests that the company avoid holding any board or general meetings unless both she and Paul attend and Khanna stays excluded, until the court gives a verdict.
Despite the internal conflict, Zinta continues to support the Punjab Kings during the 2025 IPL season. The team has performed well this year under captain Shreyas Iyer. With 17 points from 12 matches, they rank third and aim for a top-two finish. They will play their final two matches against Delhi Capitals on May 24 in Jaipur and Mumbai Indians on May 26.
The legal case has attracted attention due to the high-profile people involved and the need to follow corporate rules, even in the sports and entertainment industry. Fans hope the issue gets resolved soon so the team can concentrate on the IPL playoffs.
