His peace message was criticized by Indian social media users, prompting him to remove the post within hours. Ranveer Allahbadia deletes post for Pakistani fans after brutal trolling.
On May 10, after the India-Pakistan ceasefire agreement was announced, Ranveer Allahbadia posted a very long Instagram post to Pakistani brothers and sisters. He wrote in his message that he did not hate Pakistani citizens and accepted their kindness towards Indians. At the same time, he criticized the military of Pakistan and its intelligence agency (ISI), accusing them of state-sponsored terrorism and economic crisis.
Key Excerpts from His Post
“Dear Pakistani brother and sister, I will gain hate from quite a lot of Indians for doing this, but it must be said. Just like many Indians, I myself do not hold hatred for you in my heart. Many of us desire peace.”
“Your nation is not governed by your government. Your nation is governed by your army and your intelligence service (ISI). And Your average Pakistani citizen is much different from these two entities.”
“Proof 1: All the terrorists arrested in recent years are from Pakistan. Proof 2: Your military commanders attended the state funeral of Hafiz Abdul Rauf, brother of the Jaish-e-Mohammed leader.”
Post Deletion and Follow-Up Response
Several hours later, Ranveer had erased his message, probably out of sheer amount of backlash. Afterwards, he put up another video paying homage to the Indian military, stating how he supports India once more. In this video, he mentioned: “Jai Hind, Jai Bharat dosto. Indian Military ko sabse pehle 100% support, love, and respect.” He even mentioned the onus of Indian citizens to inform everyone about the activities of Pakistan being involved in terror, using the example of the Pahalgam attack.
Ranveer Allahbadia’s removed post has once again sparked controversies surrounding public personalities giving political opinions in times of war. While some liked his appeal for peace, others condemned him for failing to take a strong stance supporting India. His subsequent post endorsing the Indian army seems like an attempt to clear up his position amidst the furore.
