RCB victory bash: The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) celebrated in true style at M Chinnaswamy Stadium following their historic IPL 2025 victory. The overwhelming popularity drew a massive number of fans, resulting in unprecedented congestion across the city, so the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) suspended operations at key metro stations to manage safety and excessive crowds.
Metro Stations Shut Down Temporarily

BMRCL, in the interests of the safety of large crowds, with massive attendance numbers, temporarily suspended metro services at:

Cubbon Park Metro Station

Vidhana Soudha Metro Station

MG Road Metro Station

Metro authorities stated that “due to the massive crowd near the event location, there was authorization to suspend metro operation.” Metro authorities also temporarily suspended the sale of tokens and returning to QR tickets at these stations was also stopped to block passengers from entering the metro stations.

Enormous Crowd Gathered for RCB’s Victory Celebration

Thousands of supporters in RCB jerseys and waving flags packed the streets surrounding MG Road and Cubbon Park to celebrate RCB’s first IPL trophy. There was no other crowd like it, making traffic difficult and trains filled to capacity.

What BMRCL did to address crowding
To combat these crowds, BMRCL introduced more services:

Two more forward trains on the Whitefield to Challaghatta line.
Two short-loop metro services on the Majestic to Baiyappanahalli route.
Trains that terminated service at MG Road, to regulate passenger traffic and bottlenecks on the platform.

However, BMRCL official controlled and monitored the number of passengers permitted on the system.

RCB’s historic win in the IPL, led to an unprecedented celebration of fans, which, temporarily, closed metro services stations throughout Bengaluru. Although the excitement around the RCB team could not be matched, BMRCL quickly assessed the situation and executed appropriate solutions. As Bengaluru celebrated and congratulated RCB for their win, it also considerered maintaining services, as efficiently as possible, in a vibrant celebration in honour of RCB and IPL history.
