Reliance to Invest ₹65,000 Crore in CBG Plants Across AP

CBG Plants: Reliance Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants are set to play a key role in eliminating poverty in Andhra Pradesh. Minister Nara Lokesh recently laid the foundation stone for a CBG plant in Kanigiri, Prakasam district. He stated that the state aims to create 2 million jobs in five years and announced plans to establish an IIIT in Kanigiri soon.

Kanigiri to Become a CBG Hub

Reliance has taken the initiative to set up compressed biogas plants across Andhra Pradesh. The company plans to invest ₹65,000 crore in this sector, setting up 500 plants. This project will generate 2.5 lakh jobs. The government is also converting 5 lakh acres of barren land in Prakasam, Anantapur, Chittoor, and Kadapa into productive use. Minister Lokesh confirmed the allocation of 5,000 acres in Prakasam district, including 497 acres in Kanigiri, for this purpose. Kanigiri will become a hub for CBG plants, with five facilities planned in the area.

Benefits for Farmers

The Reliance CBG plant in Kanigiri will bring significant benefits to farmers in water-scarce regions. The plant will use Napier grass to produce biogas. The government has set compensation rates for land: ₹15,000 per acre for government land and ₹31,000 per acre for private land. Farmers growing Napier grass will receive fixed payments per ton. Once all CBG plants are operational, they will produce 110 lakh metric tons of organic fertilizer annually, further benefiting the agricultural sector.

Job Creation and Economic Growth

The establishment of these plants is expected to create employment opportunities for rural youth. Minister Lokesh reiterated that the government is committed to poverty eradication in Prakasam district and will achieve this goal in the next five years.

Special Bond with Reliance

Minister Lokesh highlighted the strong relationship between the state and Reliance. He recalled how former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had a close association with Reliance founder Dhirubhai Ambani. This bond continues with Mukesh Ambani and Anant Ambani. Lokesh thanked the Reliance leadership for their investment in Andhra Pradesh and emphasized the state’s commitment to a fast-track business environment.

CBG Plants Upcoming Projects

The government will soon lay the foundation stone for an IIIT in Kanigiri. Funds will be allocated for the Kanigiri railway project in April, and work will begin in August. The state is also working on completing the Velugonda irrigation project to provide water for every acre.
