Russian Missile Hits Indian Warehouse: Mistake or Message?

Russian Missile Attack: An Indian pharma company is one of the most important suppliers of basic medicines in Ukraine. However, Ukraine has made a sensational statement that Russia deliberately attacked the godown where the company’s medicine stocks were stored. Before this, the British ambassador to the country also revealed this on X. He shared a photo related to this. However, he said that this was not a missile attack, but drones.

Russian Missile Attack on Indian Pharma?

Ukraine has claimed that a Russian missile hit an Indian pharmaceutical company’s warehouse in Kyiv. The Ukrainian embassy in New Delhi has accused Russia of “deliberately” targeting Indian businesses in its country. It is known that Russia and Ukraine have been at war for more than three years. ‘Today (Saturday) a Russian missile hit the warehouse of the Indian pharmaceutical company Kusum in Ukraine. India”While claiming a ‘special friendship’ with India, Moscow is deliberately targeting Indian businesses in Ukraine, destroying medicines intended for children and the elderly,” the Kyiv embassy said in a statement.

More Deets

Kusum, owned by Indian businessman Rajiv Gupta, is one of the largest pharma companies in Ukraine. It is crucial for basic medicines in Ukraine. The company said that the godown was directly hit by a drone and not a missile.

Before the Ukrainian embassy’s statement, British Ambassador to Kyiv Martin Harris said a key pharmaceutical warehouse had been destroyed in a Russian attack. However, he claimed that it was carried out by Russian drones. “This morning Russian drones completely destroyed a major pharmaceutical warehouse in Kyiv, incinerating stocks of medicines needed by the elderly and children. Russia’s campaign of terror against Ukrainian civilians continues.” Martin said in a post on X. He shared a photo of the incident. It showed smoke billowing from what appeared to be a warehouse.

On the other hand, Russia has claimed that Ukraine has attacked its infrastructure, accusing it of violating a US-brokered embargo. Ukraine and Russia agreed last month to stop attacking each other’s energy infrastructure, but both countries have repeatedly accused each other of violating the embargo.

India-Russia Trade relations

India, which has been neutral in the Ukraine-Russia conflict, wants to end the war. India has been buying large amounts of oil from Russia since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022. This is mainly because Russian oil prices are available at a significant discount due to Western sanctions and the suspension of purchases by some European countries.

Russia is still a major oil supplier to India. India imported 1.48 million barrels of crude oil per day from Russia in February, compared to 1.67 million barrels in the previous month.
