Sakshi TV Journalist: Four days after a complaint was made over a contentious debate that was shown on Sakshi TV’s KSR program, senior journalist Kommineni Srinivasa Rao was taken into custody. There were disparaging comments made about Amaravati women farmers throughout the argument. He is being transferred to Vijayawada after being detained in Hyderabad.
The situation started when journalist Krishnam Raju made offensive remarks regarding Amaravati women during a Kommineni-hosted debate. The comments caused a huge political uproar. A case was opened against Krishnam Raju and Kommineni after the Amaravati women complained to the Thullur Police Station.
Police Complaint:
The complaint states that Kommineni openly supported or condoned Krishnam Raju’s remarks, which prompted the authorities to arrest him. Police booked both journalists under non-bailable sections, and the government swiftly acted to carry out the arrests.
Police are currently searching for Krishnam Raju, who has allegedly gone into hiding. They also filed a complaint with Sakshi TV’s management regarding the incident. Meanwhile, the TDP seized the opportunity to politicize the issue, organizing large-scale protests across the state. Despite public apologies from both journalists, the state government has remained firm. It has vowed to pursue legal action and push for arrest and imprisonment. Kommineni Srinivasa Rao’s arrest has become an unexpected and significant moment in this escalating controversy.
