Samay Raina is called back by Mumbai Police over India’s Got Latent case, Raina requests more time

The news of dispute involving some of the nation’s most well-known content creators—Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, Apurva Makhija, Ashish Chanchlani, and Jasprit Sing—is circulating on the internet. In the most recent development, the Maharashtra Cyber Cell has once again called upon stand-up comedian Samay Raina in relation to the scandal surrounding his YouTube show, India’s Got Latent. This is a part of a continuing inquiry of the content of the show.

Samay Raina, who is presently in the United States, has asked for further time to reply to the summons, according to officials. By the third week of March, he should be back. About 40 persons who helped film 18 of the show’s episodes have also received notices from the Cyber Cell.

The police have requested that YouTube take down all 18 shows from its platform and have also begun investigating individuals. Officials said they are still working with YouTube to delete the remaining episodes, even after the outrage-provoking, contentious episode was removed in two days.

The episodes were shot at a Khar studio in November 2024, and in response to a complaint, the Khar police have collected testimony from at least ten people. Authorities affirmed that no arrests have been made thus far and that after examining statements and their content, more action will be done.

Samay Raina made the first comment about the matter and the controversy on February 12. He stated that he will work with all agencies and that he had removed every episode of India’s Got Latent from YouTube.

A few celebrities have voiced their support for the content creators amid the outcry against them. Munawar Faruqui and Aly Goni offered Samay their support. However, Urfi Javed and Rakhi Sawant pleaded with internet users to pardon Ranveer Allahbadia.
