He encouraged students to concentrate on developing solid foundations in computational thinking.

He emphasized that the capacity to deconstruct problems logically and create methodical solutions is still crucial. This remains true even as AI plays a growing role in coding. Nadella cautioned that success still hinges on providing precise, well-organized instructions. This is a skill that blends technical expertise with systems thinking. Nadella stated, “The path to being that software architect gets sped up.” He added, “All of us are going to be more software developers shortly.”

“What is your number one piece of advice in this world of AI if I’m a beginner, just want to break into tech?” Khade asked Nadella during the conversation.

“Just getting the real fundamentals of software (if you’re a software engineer), I think, matters a lot,” Nadella retorted. He went on to say, “I think it’s important to be able to think computationally.”

Nadella gave an example to illustrate his point, stating that he was able to resolve a bug by simply designating the CoPilot coding agent to handle it. It was a cool problem, except for the fact that I was considering it. 30% of Microsoft’s code is now written by AI:
Up to 30% of Microsoft’s code is now written by AI, according to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, who made this revelation earlier this year in an interview with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
