A woman from the US has recently gained attention. She revealed that she charges her husband ₹1,160 each day for the lunch she packs him. The TikTok creator is also a mom of two. She said about this unusual arrangement in a video where she was making him a fresh salad for his work lunch.


 

Why She Charges Him
In the video, she explained her thought process: “If he is willing to spend £10 at McDonald’s or Greggs, why shouldn’t he pay me instead? That means that it also stays in the family and I get paid for my work.”

 


She concluded by saying both parties win from this arrangement. He gets homemade meals and she gets paid for her efforts and creativity.

 

Is this Love or Exploitative?

The wife acknowledged that coming up with creative meals every day is hard work but said she likes the arrangement overall.Online however, her revelation caused a lot of mixed response and debate.

 

Some people couldn’t help but question whether love and cooking for your partner should come with a cost, while others felt it highlighted a major issue with people not getting paid for domestic work.

One user said, “The entire point of packing lunch is to save money. You being charged at home just doesn’t make sense.” Another user chimed in stating, “Backwards mentality. Charging your husband? No way”

 

Despite the criticism from some people, many others provided their support because they viewed her decision as intelligent for valuing her work time.

 

“He’s paying for her effort and creativity. It’s fair,” one supporter wrote. Another added, “She deserves to be compensated, just like restaurants charge for food and labor.”
