Stone Attack on Vande Bharat Train: Three Engineering Students Arrested in Ongole

Stone Attack on Vande Bharat Train:
In a shocking incident, three engineering students were arrested for throwing stones at the prestigious Vande Bharat Express train. The incident occurred between Ongole and Surareddy Palem stations in Andhra Pradesh on the evening of June 5, 2025.

Stone Attack on Vande Bharat Train:

According to railway DSP G. Muralidhar, the students involved in the attack were identified as Gangavarapu Rishindra Babu, SK Khader Basha, and SK Aadesh Karimoalla. All three are students of a private engineering college in Ongole.

On the evening of the incident, the students were reportedly drinking beer near the railway track. In a reckless act, they first threw stones at the Korba-Trivandrum Express. Fortunately, those stones did not hit the train. However, when the Vande Bharat Express passed by shortly afterward, they threw stones again, which resulted in serious damage.

The impact broke the windows of three coaches—C-5, C-8, and C-11. The railway police immediately launched an investigation and registered a case. With the help of CCTV footage from the train, the police were able to identify the culprits.

The police arrested the trio and confirmed that their actions were not planned but occurred under the influence of alcohol. Still, their behavior posed a threat to passenger safety and is considered a criminal offense.

This incident has raised concerns about the safety of passengers and railway property. Authorities have urged people to treat public infrastructure with respect and warned that strict action will be taken against anyone who damages railway property.

The Vande Bharat Express is a symbol of modern India’s high-speed rail journey. Any attack on such trains not only causes financial damage but also endangers the lives of hundreds of passengers. The railway officials have appealed to the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior near railway tracks.

This arrest serves as a strong reminder that such irresponsible acts will not be tolerated. Legal action will follow to ensure safety and discipline on India’s railway network.
