Surekha Yadav is Asia’s first female train driver. Surekha Yadav joined Indian Railways in 1988. Initially, she was an assistant driver and then she rose into motorwoman in the year 2000.

First woman pilot to drive a high-speed train in India:
When Yadav drove the renowned Vande Bharat Express from Solapur to Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) on March 13, 2023, she achieved yet another significant milestone. When she arrived, she was greeted warmly as the first female pilot of the high-speed train. Her accomplishment was celebrated nationwide as a sign of women’s empowerment and a proud moment for Indian Railways.
