Tata Group Announces ₹1 Crore Compensation: In a magnificent exhibition of corporate social responsibility and empathy, Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran has announced a far-reaching aid package to the victims of the horrific Air India aircraft AI171 crash. The announcement was made following the horrific accident on 12th June 2025 at Ahmedabad when 241 individuals lost their lives out of the 242 on board.
Speaking in a release posted on Tata Group’s social media accounts. Chairman Chandrasekaran said the conglomerate would donate ₹1 crore to each of the families of the killed passenger. This financial help is in line with Tata Group’s practice of standing by the victim’s families in their time of need.
“Incalculable is the loss, but we want the families to know that they are not isolated,” Chandrasekaran said. “We at Tata Group, and I speak specifically for Air India, grieve with them and stand with them with all our support.”
The sole survivor of the accident, a British national of Indian origin, is being treated at an Ahmedabad hospital. Tata Group has volunteered to foot all the medical expenses for the injured. And is also coordinating with the medical authorities to offer the best of medical care and rehabilitation support.
Tata is also setting up a rehabilitation program for the survivor in the long term, including counseling and logistics support to the family.
The Air India flight catastrophically crashed near the BJ Medical College campus, destroying parts of hostel facilities. Tata Sons took the initiative of fully rebuilding and restoring the damaged hostel buildings so that students will not face any interruption in their studies.
